RESPONSIBILITIES: The Information Technology Officer will direct, organize, and control all aspects of information technology governance and activities for the Library, including emerging technologies, information technology security, ethics, contract management, project and resource management, and sustainability. This position provides leadership and guidance to information technology services staff, oversees risk assessment and management, and assures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. As part of the senior management team, the Information Technology Officer participates in the strategic planning, policy development, marketing, fund development and leadership of the Library system. The person in this role must have the ability to work independently in high-pressure situations and have excellent communication and customer service skills. Applicants should possess a thorough knowledge of governmental information systems principles and standards of federal, state, and county regulations, policies, and procedures. The successful candidate will integrate a “big-picture” perspective with an attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or a related field and 5 years of experience in local government or public service information systems management, at least 3 years of which must have been at a supervisory level is required. A Master’s degree in administration or library science and public library work experience is preferred. Completion of a Certified Government Chief Information Officer (CGCIO) program is desirable.
