We are retiring E-Learning - our free, online teacher accreditation approved course “Tell Me What Happened in the Story".

Designed and developed by Fontana Regional Library (FRL) and in collaboration with Region A Partnership For Children (Smart Start) this Distance-Learning training module was designed and developed for family and caregivers with preschool children and focuses on the development of narrative skills, a pre-literacy skill which strengthens early reading comprehension.

Unfortunately we no longer have the resources to continue offering this service.

We understand the value this service has brought you and realize that some of you may still be using the course, but on July 31, 2014, the E-Learing website will no longer be available.

After July 31st, E-Learning will not be accepting any more applicants and the site will no longer be accessible to view or complete your course.

For further questions, please contact the FRL Director at 828-488-2382, 828-524-3600, or info@fontanalib.org.

"Fontana Regional Library is celebrating 70 years of service!"

In 1939 the Tennessee Valley Authority established a bookmobile service from the workers and families who were involved in the Fontana Dam project.

Over the next few years the bookmobile service expanded to include residents in the six western counties now served by Fontana and the Nantahala Regional Library.

At the urging of Swain County, our three counties Swain, Macon, and Jackson, joined together to form the Fontana Regional Library.

The State of North Carolina approved their application and Fontana Regional Library officially came into being on July 1, 1944.

Happy 70th Anniversary Fontana Regional Library!
