Computer Classes Excel I & Excel II
Library Offers Beginning and Intermediate Excel Classes
Sylva -- The Jackson County Public Library will offer a free Excel for Beginners class on Monday, April 17th at 5:45 PM. The Intermediate Excel class will be Wednesday, April 19th also at 5:45 PM. Both 90-minute classes will be taught by retired WCU professor Roger Bacon, assisted by his wife Lisa Bacon and by library staffer Laura Chapman.
The introductory course is appropriate for people with some computer experience who are new to Excel and want to learn how to use this spreadsheet software. The course will cover such basic topics as entering numbers and text, doing simple calculations and using formulas, formatting the elements of a spreadsheet, how to find help when using Excel, and how to use the program for simple personal or professional projects, such as balancing a checkbook or budgeting. The class participants must have basic computer knowledge, such as keyboard and mouse skills
The intermediate class is meant for anyone who has some Excel experience but would like to improve their skills in sorting, finding, and graphing. Real-world examples will include checking account tracking, stock market graphing, and other practical exercises to make grocery shopping, diet tracking, or medication management easier. The class participants must have basic computer knowledge, such as keyboard and mouse skills.
