Activities for Kids - Jan Brett has developed hundreds of free pages of activities, coloring pages and projects, math and reading helpers.


 

A-Plus Math - Games, flash cards, quizzes, and printable worksheets. Great for homeschoolers.


 

Ask Dr. Math - A question and answer service for K-12 math students, college students and their teachers. A searchable archive is available by level and topic, together with an FAQ.


 

Ask Jeeves - For Kids - Similar to Ask Jeeves, except it is geared for kids under the age of 13. Also includes study tools like dictionary, astronomy facts, thesaurus, history, atlas.


 

C-SPAN - Public access to the political process.  Up-to-date information on Congress, the Executive Branch, the Judiciary, and political organizations.


 

Children's Literature - Database of quality children's literature. Over 5,000 records from 60 children's literature awards.


 

Discovery School – BJ Pinchbeck Homework Helper. Over 700 links to sites that will help you with your homework in art/music, computer science, English, health, foreign languages, math, science, social studies, dictionaries and reference.


 

Infoplease Homework Center - Combines an encyclopedia, dictionary, atlas, thesaurus, and several almanacs loaded with statistics, facts, and historical records. A single search engine allows you to search all these sources at once.


 

KidsClick! - Created by librarians to guide young users to valuable, selected and screened, age appropriate web sites. Subjects include such topics as, authors, pets, dictionaries, health, science, music, inventions, politics, religion, and ghosts.


 

Kids.gov - K through 8th grade. Links to government and other kids sites - grouped by age and subject.


 

Internet Public Library - Children's Division - The Univ. of Michigan School of Information. A popular feature is Ask A Question (librarians on call). Many links to health and nutrition, science fair, math puzzles, sports and fun stuff sites.


 

Math.com - Students can find free homework help and lessons, teachers can find lesson plans and great classroom resources. Free math reference material, including formulas and converters, online solutions for school and everyday math.


 

My Virtual Reference Desk - Refdesk has fast facts, quick reference/research, newspapers - USA & worldwide, search engine resources, Internet help, writing web documents, encyclopedia.


 

National Geographic for Kids - Activities, experiments, games, animal facts, maps and more, email postcard photos, crafts, cooking, top stories from around the world. From the NG Kids magazine, ages 6-12.


 

North Carolina Encyclopedia - County profiles, governments, state symbols, constitution, and more.


 

North Carolina Government - NC Government for Kids - Learn about NC Government,  recycling, environment, home science experiments, nutrition. Art activities and projects.


 

Smithsonian Education - Science and nature, history and culture, art, people and places.


 

StartSquad - Links for K-8, which have been selected by the State Library of NC. Organized into pre-school, elementary and middle school sections where you select from subjects like history, math, homework, science, TV and music.


 

Story Place - English & Spanish - Stories read online, printable materials, music. In English and in Spanish.


 

Think and Learn - A variety of interactive math, science, social studies and language arts activities for K-12th graders.. TAL also has a bank of about 40,000 questions in a "Make Your Own Test" feature.


 

UNC-TV Just for Kids - Stories, coloring sheets to print and use, games and riddles, Kids Club Events, links to PBS Kids sites.


 

US Dept of Agriculture - Kids - The USDA National Agricultural Library has information on current news, careers in agriculture and activity books.


 

United Nations Cyber School Bus - Accurate, official and up-to-date information and statistics regarding the countries of the world. UN news, webcasts, publications.


 

World Factbook - The CIA Factbook includes reference maps, history of the world, flags, country profiles, economies, transnational issues, international organizations.
