Finance Officer

  • Starting Salary: $43,000.00 - $46,000.00 a year
The Fontana Regional Library, serving Jackson, Macon, and Swain Counties in North Carolina, seeks a full- time qualified professional to serve as part of the Library’s management team. The Finance Officer is responsible for accounting and financial oversight of a $3.5 million budget. This position reports to the Regional Director and Board of Trustees.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Finance Officer will direct, organize, and control all aspects of financial management activities for the Library, including general accounting, payroll, planning, audit preparation, grant management, budget development, and human resources. This position provides leadership and guidance to financial services staff, oversees insurance and risk management, and assures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. As part of the senior management team, the Finance Officer participates in the strategic planning, policy development, marketing, fund development and leadership of the Library system. The person in this role must have the ability to work independently in high-pressure situations and have excellent communication and customer service skills. Applicants should possess a thorough knowledge of governmental accounting principles and of federal, state, and county fiscal regulations, policies, and procedures. The successful candidate will integrate a “big-picture” perspective with an attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and 5 years of experience in local government or public service financial management, at least 3 years of which must have been at a supervisory level is required. A Master’s degree in administration or library science and public library work experience is preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), or Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) is desirable.

Library Assistant II (Youth Services)

Marianna Black Library

  • Start Date: November 4, 2019
  • Starting Salary: $10.50 per hour
Position Available: November 4, 2019
Starting salary: $10.50 per hour plus medical benefits, paid leave and retirement
40 hours per week, some evenings and weekends.

Requirements:  Applicant must possess one year of library work experience with children and children's literature.  High School Diploma or GED required and college coursework preferred.  Two years of customer service experience required.  Must have knowledge of a variety of computer applications and be comfortable learning new computer skills.

Duties:  Will plan and deliver library programs and activities for children and their caregivers, and local teens - activities focus on pre-literacy skills, STEAM development, recreational programs and the Summer Learning Program. Will promote programs using flyers, press releases, newsletters, and social media. Will manage and track data from activities. Will manage the Youth Services area and its collection. Will work the circulation desk, assist library patrons, collect fines and fees and complete any other duties that may arise in daily library operations.

Library Assistant I

Hudson Library

  • Start Date: October 16, 2019
  • Starting Salary: $10.00 per hour
Hudson Library is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic candidate to fill the part-time position of Library Assistant I. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong technology skills, excellent communication skills, and be customer service oriented. One year of customer service experience is required. Library work experience is a plus. Job duties include staffing the circulation desk, assisting patrons, collecting fines and fees, and completing other duties that may arise during daily library operations. The Library Assistant I assists patrons in locating materials and using the library catalog, assists with readers’ advisory service for patrons, shelves library materials, and keeps shelves in order.  High school diploma or GED required.

The Library Assistant I is a part-time position of 12-15 hours per week; Saturday work is required. Starting salary is $10,00 per hour. The position is available October 16, 2019.
