event Jackson County Public Library - Sylva Tax Appointments
In partnership with the Jackson County Senior Center and the AARP Foundation, free tax services (including federal and state forms) will be available February 4th through April 14th on Tuesdays from 3:00pm to 6:45pm at Jackson County Public Libary in Sylva by appointment only. To make an appointment, call the library at (828) 586-2016.
For your tax appointment, you must bring (for yourself, your spouse, and any dependents):
- Social Security Cards, photo identification
- All documents and information pertaining to 2019 taxes
- A copy of your 2018 filed tax return with any notices of adjustments
- Information pertaining to health insurance during 2019
event Macon County Public Library - Franklin Tax Appointments
In partnership with the AARP, free tax services (including federal and state forms) will be available beginning February 3rd through April 14h on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Macon County Public Library in Franklin by appointment only. To make an appointment, call the library at (828) 524-3600.
For your tax appointment, you must bring:
- NC, SC, or GA Drivers License/Photo ID
- Social Security Cards (for everyone in household)
- 2018 Tax Return
- W-2's, 1099's, and other documents you received for 2019
- Important to bring in all ACA (Obamacare) information for all dependents and all data on dependent income

Walk-in Tax Service is available at the Jackson County Senior Center on Mondays from 10:00am to 3:00pm and Fridays from 10:00am to 3:00pm on a first come, first served basis. For more information, visit the Senior Center at 100 County Services Park in Sylva, NC or call at (828) 586-5494.
loyalty Tax Help for Eastern Band Members
Beginning the January 22nd, Eastern Band members may call (828) 359-6930 (Cherokee Co-operative extension office - EBCI Center) to make appointments for free tax assistance. Appointments begin Wednesday, February 7, and slots are available Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday each week after.

OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling will start booking appointments on January 16th and will be doing taxes January 29th through April 17th, Monday through Saturday with 1 hour slots. Spanish and English help will be available.
OnTrack WNC’s Free Tax Program offers the services of certified IRS-trained tax preparers who will prepare simple tax returns FREE for individuals and families with 2017 household income of less than $54,000.

UNC Asheville VITA will offer walk-in only tax assistance from February 2rd through March 27th. Every Saturday starting February 2rd, taxes will be done by UNCA students from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Every Monday & Wednesday taxes will be done by AARP from 10:00am - 4:00pm
As part of the IRS VITA program, moderate to low income families can have their income tax returns prepared free. The IRS VITA program offers free income tax preparation for people with incomes under $54,000, the elderly, and people with disabilities or limited proficiency in English.
