 A Quilt Story...

... and  it started with  BOOK.....yes, a book purchased at Friends of the Library Bookstore. The title, Hand Applique, caught my attention as I am learning to applique. Thumbing thru the pages, I found simple shapes for birds and flowers. I could hardly wait to begin! First I made birds and next added flowers and the quilt grew quickly. Once
sashing and borders were added, I hand quilted with a "big stitch" using a large needle and heavy cotton thread. Binding was then attached and my quilt was finished, What fun! I thoroughly enjoyed the entire process of choosing shapes, colors, placement of blocks and the hand sewing/quilting. Choosing fabric is a favorite part of quiltmaking. I am already looking forward to finding just the right fabric for a fish design in the book.......(to be continued)
