The next community music jam at the Marianna Black Library, in Downtown Bryson City, will be Thursday, July 7th, at 6:00 PM, in the library auditorium.   Anyone with a guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, dulcimer - anything unplugged - is invited to join.  Singers are also welcomed to join in.  Or, you can just stop by and listen.

The jam is facilitated by Larry Barnett, of Sawmill Creek Porch Band.  Normally Larry starts by calling out a tune and its key signature, and the group plays it together.  Then everyone in the circle gets a chance to choose a tune for the group to play together.  The community jams offer a chance for musicians of all ages and levels of ability to share music they have learned over the years or learn old-time mountain songs.

The music jams are offered to the public each 1st and 3rd Thursday for the rest of the year.  Marianna Black Library, a member of the Fontana Regional Library, is located in Downtown Bryson City at the corner of Academy and Rector.  For more information or driving directions call the library at (828) 488-3030.  This program received support from the North Carolina Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of North Carolina and the National Endowment of the Arts, which believes a great nation, deserves great art.
