Author Event: Patricia Brandon
Join us on March 19 at 1 p.m. in the library meeting room to hear local author Patricia Brandon present her most recent historical fiction novel, Rise of the Pale Moon, which is set in the Revolutionary War era of South Carolina. Three young women – an indentured servant from London, a chattel slave, and a Catawba Indian are held on a Revolutionary War era plantation in coastal South Carolina. They must learn to navigate relationships with each other, and with the Master and his family in order to survive. Can they determine their own fate as the birth of a new nation unfolds? Will they risk an escape that might end them all? Is it possible to alter the course of their lives in such tumultuous times – and change the course of the war in the American South? Rise of the Pale Moon is a story of courage, loyalty, sacrifice, overcoming adversity, love – and hope.
Patirica is also the author of the novels The Center of Gravity and A Rule of Life and a memoir, In the Valley of Achor, that details her first year with an extremely rare form of paralysis.
Books will be avialable for purchase and signing, but the event itself is free and open to the public.
