Join the Oconee Bell Chapter of the NC Native Plant Society to learn about our native butterflies. This workshop will introduce you to some North Carolina butterfly diversity, how to identify butterflies, and how to become a community science butterfly monitor. We will be indoors for about an hour for a PowerPoint presentation and outdoors for about 45 minutes searching for butterflies and practicing a survey. Bring close-focus binoculars if you have them! The Carolinas Butterfly Monitoring Program (CarBMP) aims to track butterfly populations using scientifically sound, standardized survey methods as well as opportunistic sightings across both North and South Carolina.
