Let’s Get Japaneseee: Hinamatsuri
Join us at the Jackson County Public Library for the next installment of Let’s Get Japaneseee. The March gathering will be Tuesday, March 4th at 6 p.m. in the Community Room of the library. Participants will learn about the Japanese shinto holiday, Hinamatsuri, also known as 'Doll’s Day' or 'Girl’s Day' which is celebrated on the 3rd day of March every year. Folks will make Hinamatsuri dolls using two toilet paper rolls or one paper towel roll. If possible, attendees are encouraged to bring their own rolls from home. Next, participants will make Hina-arare, a sweet rice cracker treat served during Hinamatsuri.
Boy’s Day or Tango no sekku, is celebrated in May and will be the focus of May’s Let’s Get Japaneseee program. *Everyone is welcome though registration is required* To register please click on this link or call the library at 828-586-2016. The Jackson County Public Library is a member of the Fontana Regional Library.
