  • All Fontana Regional Library Locations will be closed Friday, April 3rd for the Good Friday holiday.

Let's Get Japaneseee!

Supplies are limited so please register by calling or visiting the library.
You will learn about Sakura  (cherry blossoms)  and Hanami (flower viewing parties). Deeply significant in Japanese culture, they symbolize the beauty and transience of life, historically representing the fleeting life of the samurai.
You can also experience calligraphy. Through calligraphy, you will learn about Japanese characters. Why don't you write the character for 'cherry blossom' in Japanese in your own handwriting. Since the calligraphy ink is difficult to remove, please wear clothes that you don't mind getting stained, just in case.
Lastly, you will make 'Dorayaki' which is a type of Japanese confection.
