Let's Get Japaneseee: Kodomo no hi (Children’s Day)
The Jackson County Public Library will host the next Let’s Get Japaneseee program on Tuesday, May 6th at 6 p.m. in the Community Room. May’s gathering will celebrate ‘Kodomo no hi’ or Children’s Day. This public holiday which takes place annually on May 5 and is the final celebration in Golden Week. It is a day set aside to respect children's personalities and to celebrate their happiness. It was designated a national holiday by the Japanese government in 1948, but has been a day of celebration in Japan since ancient times. Participants will make ‘Kodomo no hi’ related crafts and the group will learn how to make Oyako don (chicken and egg bowl) to eat. *Registration is required* To register please click this link or call the Jackson County Public Library at 828-586-2016.
