Walking with Spring - Dark Sky Movement with Bobby Bradley

Dark Skies: how all creatures need thoughtful lighting Lighting is integral to the survival of humans and animals alike, but in a very lite world the need for darkness is increasingly important. We will look at the current state of lighting pollution as well as a few key indicator species including humans, butterflies and fireflies that thrive with proper light and darkness.
Bio: Bobby Bradley is a lighting designer and nature photographer based in Greenville, SC.
Bobby has a passion for wild and dark places having spent time in diverse places from, New York to Namibia to the Carolinas. Time spent in the extremes of urban and remote places sparked a new found appreciation and desire to share and educate others about the human centric and environmental benefits that darkness and nighttime exploration can offer.

Professionally as a lighting designer he aims to use the knowledge and expertise to help educate the public, clients, and community about best practices to help foster new and existing appreciations for the night sky and reduce lighting pollution. Finally, through the medium of photography and story sharing he also hopes to inspire others to adventure and protect our local Blue Ghost Fireflies.

This event also coincides with the library's Macon to Mars program which will culminate in a Star Party on the evening on Saturday, April 25.
