WNCRR and Incarcerated Laborers: A North Carolina Story
The Cowee 19 has long been a story that swirled around western North Carolina. Guest curator of Shadows of Incarceration: The Cowee 19 Story at the Mountain Heritage Center, Danielle Duffy will be at the JCPL on Thursday, August 15 from 6-7:30 PM with special guest Bob Plott. This program will discuss the story of the Cowee 19, incarcerated laborers and the convict leasing system in NC and the South, and the Western North Carolina Railroads impacts on the region.
