Wednesdays, beginning on January 14, 1:00-4:00

Media Contact: Robert Knighton, Macon County Public Library 524-3600

Franklin -- Anyone who would like help looking for a job or gaining basic job skills can come to the Macon County Public Library on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 4:00 beginning on January 14th to get one-on-one help from an SCC employability instructor.

This new service is a partnership between the library and SCC's Educational Opportunities Department, which will have a staff member at the library to work with patrons seeking jobs and basic job skills. Anyone requiring assistance is invited to call the library to make an appointment, but drop-in help is also available.

John Mitchell is a part-time instructor with SCC, and he will be on hand at the library to work with people who want help with job searching, resumes, interviewing practice, and basic computer skills for the workplace. Whether you need help using online job search tools, filling out an application, or getting a North Carolina Career Readiness Certification, you will be able to get the assistance you need free of charge. Services are available to people who are currently unemployed or underemployed.

For more information, or to make an appointment with John Mitchell, please call the reference desk at the library at 828-524-3600. Appointment times are available on Wednesdays between 1:00 and 4:00 starting on January 14th.

Macon County Public Library is a member of Fontana Regional Library.
