In partnership with Legal Aid of North Carolina, the Jackson County Public Library is serving as one of many host sites state-wide for free do-it- yourself legal clinics on simple divorce, child custody, and healthcare powers of attorney.

The next clinic will be devoted to Living Wills and Healthcare Power of Attorney documents and will take place at the Jackson County Public Library on Tuesday, July 26 at 2:30. Attendees come to the library to participate in the interactive video clinic. Each session shows participants how to fill out the necessary forms, which are provided, and what to expect from the process. Attendees also have a chance to ask general questions of the attorney conducting the clinic from the Legal Aid office in Raleigh.

A clinic on Child Custody will be held Tuesday, August 9th at 2:30pm and a clinic on Simple Divorce will be held Thursday, August 18th at 2:30pm.

The clinics are free, but registration is required. Participants can register online for themselves at www.legalaidnc.org or call the Library at 586-2016 and ask to be registered. Attendees should come to the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of the library by 2:15 in order to participate in the clinic.
