Thursday, May 18 at 1pm, Jackson County Public Library hosts Opportunities to Help During Crisis

Sylva-- On Thursday, May 18 at 1 PM, the Jackson County Public Library is hosting a free mental health seminar facilitated by Vaya Health. This program is in the Conference Room and is free of charge but registration is required.

An individual can experience a crisis suddenly and without warning, especially when symptoms of a mental illness are involved. As a caregiver or responder, possessing skills that support de-escalation is imperative. Did you know that you can help? This course provides information about crises in older adults, barriers to de-escalation, and specific methods of stabilizing support. Presented by Vaya Health’s Geriatric and Adult Mental Health Specialty Team. Registration is required. Please call the Library at (828) 586-2016 or email to register. If you're not able to attend this event, or you'd like to see what else they have to offer, feel free to visit to sign up for free webinars offered by Vaya Health.

The Jackson County Public Library is a member of Fontana Regional Library.
