The Marianna Black Library in Bryson City, in partnership with the Japan Outreach Initiative Coordinator at WCU, will host an event on Somegami (Japanese Washi Paper Dyeing), Monday, July 10 from 3:30 to 4:30 PM in the Auditorium.

Nanaka Okamura, a Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI) coordinator, will lead this session. Ms. Okamura came to the U.S. in July 2021 and has been teaching Japanese culture (such as Japanese calligraphy, origami, seasonal events, manners, etc.) and the Japanese language to people in the community here in Western North Carolina. Don”t miss this opportunity! In this 60-minute workshop, you will learn about and experience Somegami (Japanese Washi Paper Dyeing) yourself.
