The Marianna Black Library in Bryson City, in partnership with the Japan Outreach Initiative Coordinator at WCU, will be hosting an event about “Japanese Food Culture.” Monday, April 17 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM in the auditorium. Nanaka Okamura, a Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI) Coordinator will lead this event.

In this 60-minute workshop, you will learn about “Japanese Food Culture,” including traditional Japanese cuisine (Washoku), school meals, common household meals, bento boxes, etiquette, and more.

Nanaka came to the US in July 2021 and has been teaching Japanese culture (such as Japanese Calligraphy, origami, seasonal events, manner, etc.) and the Japanese language to people in the community here in Western North Carolina.
