The Marianna Black Library will continue the Summer Music Series on Thursday, July 14th, with the “sweetest” blues singer in Jackson County, Karen “Sugar” Barnes at 7:00PM.
Who do you get when you mix the pristine vocals of Ella Fitzgerald with the guitar licks of Robert Johnson? You get Dillsboro’s “Sugar” Barnes, that’s who. Sugar plays heritage blues and was one of the founding members of the "Blues Bombers" from Sylva, NC. As well as singing, Karen plays acoustic guitar, slide guitar, and the ukulele. She performs regularly in western North Carolina with Dave Magill, who will be backing her up and singing a few songs of his own.
The Friends of the Marianna Black Library will also be there to provide light snacks and refreshments. This program is free and open to area residents and visitors. Please join us for an evening of good music on the front lawn of the Marianna Black Library. The library is located in Downtown Bryson City at the corner of Academy and Rector. For more information or driving directions call the library at (828) 488-3030.
