The Jackson County Public Library is hosting a Memory Improvement workshop on Tuesday, July 19 at 6 PM. The workshop will be facilitated by Valerie Harrison. This program is free of charge.

This workshop is intended for people aged 45 and older. We will be looking at new scientific data regarding the brain and memory. Participants will learn new techniques to improve their ability to retrieve stored experience, and learn techniques to increase memory. The increased access to our memory leads to better quality of life, better performance at work, and just overall happiness. This workshop is limited in size, so please contact the Library at 586-2016 to register.

In 1985, Valerie Harrison finally decided to start her own consulting firm “Images of the Mind!” as a Human Development Specialist, after years of training employees for CEO’s.  She researched, designed, marketed and presented her program to businesses, corporation, military installations, churches and non-profit organizations.  After relocating to beautiful Western North Carolina, Harrison did several presentations through SCC and many other colleges over the years, when she had time as adjunct faculty. Now she divides her time on volunteer services as a Senior Advocate in Jackson and Swain Counties, a SHIIP counselor mostly in Jackson and Swain, under the North Carolina Department of Insurance.  She helps Medicare recipients understand Medicare and how to save money on their Medicare approved Part D medicines and Health Supplements.

For more information, please call the Jackson County Public Library in Sylva at 586-2016. This event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Jackson County Public Library.
