Macon County Public Library is pleased to resume free computer classes on a variety of topics. The end-of-summer schedule includes basic and intermediate classes--watch for the schedule of classes each month on the library's online calendar. August 2, 6pm: Internet Basics

Level: Beginner
Learn to find and navigate web pages. In this class you will learn how browsers and websites work, how to print from the internet, basic internet safety tips, and ways to continue learning about the internet.
Students should be comfortable using a mouse.

August 9: NO CLASS

August 16, 6pm: iPhone/iPad: Learn to Back Up and Sync Your Device

Level: Intermediate
Learn how to back up and sync your iPhone or iPad so you won't lose your pictures and data. This class will introduce you to the basics of using iTunes and iCloud for managing your device. 
Instructor: Cassie Chambliss
Note: To participate in the hands-­on parts of the class, you will need:
  • your iPhone or iPad
  • your apple ID and password
  • the USB power cord for your device

August 23, 6pm: Excel I

Level: Beginner
This introductory course is appropriate for people with some computer experience who are new to Excel and want to learn how to use this spreadsheet software. The course will cover such basic topics as entering numbers and text, doing simple calculations and using formulas, formatting the elements of a spreadsheet, how to find help when using Excel, and how to use the program for simple personal or professional projects, such as balancing a checkbook or budgeting.
Class participants should have basic computer knowledge, such as keyboard and mouse skills.

August 30, 6pm: Excel II

Level: Intermediate
This class is meant for anyone who has some Excel experience but would like to improve their skills in sorting, finding, and graphing. Real-world examples will include checking account tracking, stock market graphing, and other practical exercises to make grocery shopping, diet tracking, or medication management easier.
Level: Intermediate
Class participants should have basic computer knowledge, such as keyboard and mouse skills.
