Sylva-- On Thursday, April 27 at 6 PM in the Community Room, the Jackson County Public Library is hosting The Center for Domestic Peace and the WCU Peacekeepers for a program about supporting survivors. Come learn what to say when a friend or family member opens up about abuse or sexual assault. Attendees will learn the importance of trauma-informed responses, reasons why people stay in abusive relationships, and how to encourage them to take steps toward safety. Attendees will also learn about local services and how to connect survivors with appropriate resources. This program is free of charge and all are welcome, although the subject matter may be too heavy for small children.
