Blue Ridge Garden Quest

Come out this summer for a multi-part gardening workshop led by agriculturist Kenda Woodburn! The Southern Blue Ridge Mountain area has one of the most diverse temperate regions on the planet. We have the highest mountain peaks in eastern North America. The Highlands-Cashiers Plateau has the highest average rainfall in the east. Learning to grow vegetables and fruits presents a challenge that many other areas do not have. We are unique. Come to the Cashiers library and learn about the history, climate and geography of this fantastic area, while learning to grow wonderful fruits and vegetables that are adapted to this region.

Kendra is a life long agriculturist starting with her first garden here in Jackson County. She earned her A.S. from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, B.S. in Horticulture from Clemson Univ. and M.S. from the University of Florida. Kenda helped develop 42 fruit plant cultivars at the University of Arkansas and was an Extension Educator and Horticulture Teacher for many years.
