Cherokee Culture Series: Cherokee Traditions and Oral History

Join us at the Jackson County Public Library for an evening of Cherokee storytelling, flute music, and traditional song and dance on Tuesday, June 17th at 6 p.m. Jarrett Wildcatt, an enrolled member of Eastern Band Of Cherokee Indians, will perform in the Community Room of the library. With over 12 years of experience, Jarrett has performed flute music for several different organizations. He has done Land Acknowledgements and opened for Grammy Winning Artists 'boygenius', and 'Portugal. The Man'. He has also performed at World's Fair Park for the 'Our Common Nature' festival alongside esteemed musicians Yo Yo Ma, Chris Thile, Jennifer Kreisberg of ULALI,  Rhiannon Giddens, Eric Mingus and others. But what Jarrett enjoys doing most is attending Ceremonial Dances, playing Stickball, and being out in nature.
This program is part of the Cherokee Culture Series which was generously funded by a grant from The Jackson County Arts Council. The Jackson County Public Library is a member of the Fontana Regional Library. For more information please call 828-586-2016.
