Fall Lecture Series with David Bell

Join us on Wednesday, October 8 at 3:00 p.m. for a presentation by David Bell, Director of Camp Mondamin, on working to address cultural appropriation within the tradition and narratives of summer camp.

Camp Mondamin has taken intentional steps to reverse the effects of cultural appropriation—relinquishing certain refernces to Native Americans, welcoming Native voices and perspectives into their space, and reframing the cultural traditions they have chosen to keep in ways that educate rather than appropriate. In doing so, the camp's leadership has committed to making allyship with Native Peoples as part of their mission.
