In this third volume of the Wilderness War of 1777 readers ride along on the front lines as a sizable British military force augmented by German and British military force augmented by German local loyalists attacks the Northern Army's southern front in the hope of assisting a much larger British Army being systematically destroyed far to the north of New York City in the wilderness region of Saratoga. Readers experience the personal trials and triumphs of the famous and infamous soldiers and citizens on both sides of the fray the hardships encountered by the patriots fighting for independence; their opponents who were strangers in a land unfamiliar to them; and the locals who were caught in the crossfire.
