To teach young Helen Keller how to understand language, Annie Sullivan needed not only patience but also a new, inspired approach. As slowly, with devotion and determination, Annie taught Helen finger spelling and braille, letters, and sentences, Helen came to understand language and started to communicate and connected for the first time with her family and the world around her.
