Every child's potential is regularly determined by a standardized measurement: their quotient (Q). Elena Fairchild teaches at one of the elite schools for children with very high scores. Those whose scores are too low are placed in federal boarding schools with limited future prospects. When Elena's nine-year-old daughter fails a test and her Q score plummets, she is sent to a distant institution. Elena immediately requests a transfer to be near her daughter. What began as a shock quickly becomes a nightmare as Elena discovers the terrifying atrocities inflicted upon the students.
