5-year-olds CAN sew! This DVD leads children through the first steps of learning to hand sew by narrating the process of sewing a felt bird in rhyming language children can understand. In PART 1, follow along as each illustrated step from My First Sewing Book is read, interspersed with occasional pop-up video of children sewing. The sequence progresses from gathering tools, threading a needle, then sewing and stuffing a felt bird. PART 2 is a close-up, speeded up segment of a boy creating his own sewn, stuffed bird. PART 3 shows how to make patterns for more shapes to sew. Using the 44 included pattern pdfs, children can make a collection of stuffed shapes--a zoo, a flock of birds, or celestial shapes to hang as a mobile.
