For your convenience, all RBdigital content will soon be available through the OverDrive e-iNC Digital Library. Instead of having to navigate two different apps with their own databases and logins, now you’ll just need Libby.

American Red Cross Providing Preparedness Training with the Marianna Black Library

During the month of August, the Marianna Black Library has teamed up with the American Red Cross to offer several Virtual Red Cross Training's on how to be prepared for a variety of emergency situations. These programs are catered to a variety of ages, though anyone can attend any program.

Macon County Public Library Launches Dial-a-story

The Children’s Department of the Macon County Public Library in Franklin, NC has launched an exciting new program called “Dial-a-Story.” Parents can call 828-634-1128 to hear a story read by one of our children’s librarians. This program was designed with our community in mind and is perfect for families who are trying to avoid extra screen time or do not have internet at home. Stories will be around three minutes long so they are great for bite sized listening and are completely free!

Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Coming to Franklin

The Macon County Public Library and the surrounding community has been expressly chosen by the North Carolina Humanities Council to host “Water/Ways” as part of the Museum on Main Street program—a national/state/local partnership to bring exhibitions and programs to rural cultural organizations. The exhibition will tour six communities in North Carolina from July 14 ,2020 through April 25, 2021.

Drive Through Job & Resource Fair at Macon County Public Library

The Macon County NCWorks Career Center will hold a Drive-Through Job & Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, at the Macon County Public Library.

According to NCWorks career center manager, Paula Alter, “A traditional job fair had previously been scheduled for June 19 at the library but Covid-19 changed those plans. We know our area employers want and need to connect with job seekers and vice versa. This type of event will still provide that connection in a no-contact way.”

Make an Appointment to Visit the Library

Beginning June 1, members of the public can make an appointment to visit any Fontana Regional Library location in Macon, Jackson, and Swain Counties starting June 8. Appointments are limited to 45 minutes each and can be made by phone up to one week in advance.

Curbside service to pickup reserved items will remain in place for those who prefer that option.
- All people entering library buildings will be required to wear a mask or other face covering.

Libraries Keep Curbside Service and Get Ready to Add by-Appointment Visits

Fontana Regional Library locations in Macon, Jackson, and Swain Counties plan to open on a limited by- appointment basis as of June 8 and will begin accepting appointments by phone on June 1.

Patrons may make appointments no more than one week in advance. Curbside service will remain in place for those who do not choose to schedule a time to come into the building. All people entering library buildings will be required to wear a mask or other face covering.

Libraries Provide Curbside Service Beginning May 18th

All Fontana Regional Library locations in Macon, Jackson, and Swain Counties will provide curbside pickup service starting the week of Monday, May 18. (Those locations not open on Mondays will begin on Tuesday.) Call your local library to ask about hours for that location and learn more about how curbside service will operate at your library.

All Fontana Regional Library buildings are currently open with some restrictions for coronavirus prevention. Curbside pickup service is available. Please call your local library for more information.
