We are a FRIEND OF SAM this summer.
Sam the Turtle, Hyena, the fire breathing chicken and Mr. Barry have a special online show for our summer readers. Watch the show on your favorite computer or device. This one takes you into the magical world of Harry Potter to retrieve the sorcerer's stone before it can fall into the wrong hands. Summer Reading kicks off starting Monday, June 8th. Register online now to join the adventure. We are moving much of our program online this year but we are still here for you and still committed to providing a great program. Our theme this year is Imagine Your Story.
Along with online registration and reading logs we will also be offering a variety of virtual programming free on our Facebook and website. Make sure you are following us on Facebook for program updates and information.
If you would prefer to pick up paper copies of your registration and BINGO logs, we do have those available at the Library. Call us at 828-524-3600 to let us know you're coming and you can pick them up curbside. Whether you follow the BINGO themes or just record 15 minutes a day of reading, please return your completed BINGO log to the Library after July 31st for your Grand Prize.
We will also be putting together small activity and prize bags throughout the summer, please let us know on your registration form if you would like these.

Jackson County Public Library Summer Learning Program 2020
Library Summer Learning is here! Starting June 15th, you can call the library between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00pm to sign kids (ages 0-18) up for the Summer Learning Program. Once kids are signed up you can come pick up a reading log and prize bag via our curbside service or make an appointment to come in the library and browse for books (and pick up your SLP bag while you're in).

Macon County Public Library - Teens, Tweens, & Young Adults
Sign up and track time spent reading anytime between June 12th-July 31st. Participants that spend the most time reading this summer will be announced in the Teen August newsletter and they will receive a prize. Jackson County Public Library 2020 Teen Summer Learning
Library Summer Learning is here! Starting June 15th, you can call the library between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00pm to sign up for the Summer Learning Program. Track your reading and earn the chance to win prizes for the time you spend reading all summer. Once signed up, you can come pick up a reading log via our curbside service or make an appointment to come in the library and browse for books. Once you signup online, you can log your reading using the "Reading Log" link below - you can update your log throughout the summer using the link emailed to you. We will be picking the Reading Log Raffle winners at random on Monday, August 3rd and will call you if you are chosen.

Back by popular demand, Hudson Library presents Adult Summer Reading Bingo! Stop by the library to pick up a bingo card (Curbside beginning June 2, inside the library by appointment beginning June 9), download the Hudson Library Book Bingo Cards (pdf) or register online and opt to receive an online bingo card. Earn prizes for the things you read all summer long.

Register for the Albert Carlton-Cashiers Community Library Summer Learning Program by phoning the library at 828-743-0215 Tuesday - Saturday during our operational hours. Ages 0-18 are welcome! After you have registered, stop by the library (Curbside beginning June 2 or inside the library by appointment beginning June 9) to pick up your SLP bag.
Hudson Library Children's Summer Learning Program 2020
Register for the Hudson Library Summer Learning Program by phoning the library at 828-526-3031. Ages 0-18 are welcome! After you have registered, stop by the library (Curbisde beginning June 2, inside the library by appointment beginning June 9) to pick up your SLP bag. Most of the prizes will be in the bag -- it's up to the parent/guardian to hand out prizes when children have earned them. You'll need to come to the library when you've finished the entire reading card to pick out your final prize, a free book!
Take & Make - The Bascom
Take and Make offers “to-go” packets for grades K-7 with accompanying print lesson plans and instructions, and online video tutorials that provide instruction and insight in to each project. The kits will be available for pick up at The Bascom, and libraries in the Fontana Regional Library System. The pick-up locations are key in that these organizations will provide supplemental reading materials to accompany the kits, and can provide students and parents with access to technology and internet service for exploring the reference materials found in each Take and Make kit.
Note: Most materials in the kits are readily available at home, so if you are unable to pick up a kit you can still try these activities at home with the guides and videos online!
You can pick up your Take & Make kit at The Bascom, Macon County Public Library, Hudson Library, or Albert Carlton-Cashiers Community Library. Please call ahead for pick up times and availability.
