Concious Aging with Dr. John Ritchie

Conscious Aging is a workshop designed to help seniors see senior aging as providing many gifts that can be embraced and utilized to enhance acceptance, appreciation, and enjoyment of senior living. Conscious Aging is a special combination of mutually enhancing experiences and practices uniquely relevant and available to seniors. In this context, 'conscious' means to intentionally be more mindful and present, to enhance our awareness and connections, or to open our mind and heart. Inner Work is the primary practice, and relationships with self and others becomes the primary focus. This new paradigm for senior aging is supported by our recently expanded senior age, limitations of our 'successful doing' middle-age model, and a natural shift in interests, values, needs, and roles as we transition into becoming seniors. Dr. Ritchie will talk about our supportive natural physical aging experiences, increased senior yearnings, internal practices and their application to 'negative' experiences, and similar essential universal spiritual practices. He will also talk about Senior Discussion/Support Groups as a model for practicing conscious aging and meeting the values and needs of seniors.
