Sharing your big, important stories can be life-changing for you and others. But, like most things
worth doing, it’s far from easy, and often daunting. It’s hard to know where to start and scary to
think of everything you need to pull together.
Thinking of writing a memoir? Want to make it good? This class is for you.
Join writer, educator, and coach Cornelia Dolian for a 90-minute introduction to the memoir
genre and its expectations, plus tips on how to make your important story stand out.
Cornelia uses instruction , prompted writing, and discussion to help you:
● learn the key elements of the memoir genre and get clarity around what a memoir
is (and what it isn’t);
● choose your memoir’s central story, theme, or direction;
● consider the best way to deliver your unique and resonant story to the world (from the
traditional literary memoir to the more expansive 'memoir+' option, and beyond); and
● figure out where to begin collecting, compiling, and nurturing what will become the
foundations of your memoir.
This class is free and open to the public. Please call (828) 743-0215 for more information.
