Digital Literacy Classes at MCPL-Tuesdays 3-5 pm starting Feb. 9th

The Covid-19 pandemic has illustrated with vivid clarity how important it is for people to have digital literacy skills. To succeed in this rapidly changing environment, workers need broad-based digital problem solving skills that equip them to learn a wide variety of today's technologies and navigate continued changes in the future.

The College and Career Readiness department of Southwestern Community College proposes to offer back to back 4 week classes this Spring at different locations in the region, with different times and dates. Any community adult can take this class. The class is free to the unemployed and the underemployed. SCC will require students to register in advance, meet with the instructor for 2 hours per week and then work on their own for another 2 hours each day on a software program SCC would provide. Students may make appointments to use the computers at MCPL for this outside work if they do not have access to a device at home.

The class at MCPL will be held in the computer lab on Tuesdays from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in three sessions. The first session will start February 9th, the second session starts March 9th, and the third session will start April 6th. To register please call the SCC College and Career Readiness Department at 828-339-4272
