Fontana Regional Library will be hosting their 3rd Annual "Read Local Book Fair," an event which gives residents the chance to meet and support local authors. This year, the event will be held in three locations with three different sets of authors: at Macon County Public Library in Franklin on Saturday, November 5th from 10am to 1pm, at Jackson County Public Library in Sylva on Saturday, November 12th from 10am to 1pm., and at Marianna Black Library in Bryson City on Saturday, November 19th from 10am to 1pm. Authors will have copies of their works available for purchase, just in time for the holiday season!
“Since last year’s event was such a success in Franklin and Sylva, we decided to expand this year to include Swain County authors at a similar Fair in Bryson City. The event in Bryson City will be set up as a fundraiser for the new library being planned there,” said Karen Wallace, Fontana Regional Library Director. “We have been pleased to be able to expand the original event to include libraries in all three of our counties this year,” she said.
The three parallel events will each feature a different slate of authors, with those from Macon County appearing in Franklin, those from Jackson county appearing in Sylva, and Swain county authors in Bryson City. At each event, authors will be available to the public, where they can meet and chat with readers and autograph books. City Lights Bookstore in Sylva and Books Unlimited in Franklin will be on hand to sell books. Part of the idea behind the Fair is to support the local economy of books and authors.
"We are thrilled to work with so many talented authors and bring them together with the community," said Charles Diede, Assistant County Librarian at Macon County Public Library. For more information about the Read Local Book Fair, please visit fontanalib.org/bookfair.
