Library Assistant 1 (Multiple Openings)

The Fontana Regional Library system is seeking an individual to perform entry level responsibilities. This staff member will perform public service duties necessary to assist library patrons and library staff. Specific duties include: processing and preparing materials for circulation, entering items and user records into the integrated library system (ILS), and answering general information questions in person, by phone, and electronically. Work will include assisting the public with the use of library equipment and technology. Work may also include the checking out of library materials, issuing library cards, assessing and collecting fines and problem solving. Evening and weekend work are required. Work is performed under the supervision of the Department Supervisor or Librarian.
A high school diploma or GED is required. One year of customer service experience is preferred. One year of related library experience is preferred.
Jackson County plans to leave the FRL system at the end of June 2026. This position once filled will be under the FRL until June 30, 2026. After that date the position will be funded by Jackson County.
