Sylva-- The Jackson County Public Library is hosting the Jackson County Beekeepers Association on Friday, July 21 at 10:30 AM. This program is part of the Summer Learning Program.  Anyone interested in the Summer Learning Program can register by coming to the Youth Services Desk on the first floor of the Library, or go to the link fontanalib.org/summer, or download the Read Squared app.

Sylva-- The Jackson County Public Library is hosting a Camping Party Family Night on Thursday, July 27 at 5 PM in the Storytime Room.  If you can't camp-out, why not camp-in? Enjoy an evening full of imagination and fun as we bring the outdoors inside with snacks, crafts, and games for the whole family. This program is free and open to the public.

Sylva-- The Jackson County Public Library is hosting Balsam Mountain Trust on Friday, July 14 at 10:30 AM. This program is limited to 150 people. Tickets for limited events will be distributed when the library opens the morning of the event. This program is part of the Summer Learning Program.

Sylva-- The Jackson County Public Library is hosting a Science of Balance Family Night on Thursday, July 20 at 5 PM in the Storytime Room. Work together as a family to explore the science of balance by exploring and manipulating the placement of weight in toys, on structures, and even with people! This program is free and open to the public.

The Marianna Black library has hosted a Community Music Jam in Bryson City for over a decade and the next one will be on Thursday, July 20th, at 6:00 PM on the library front patio, if weather permits, or in the library auditorium. Anyone with a guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, dulcimer - anything unplugged - is invited to join. This is an opportunity for both beginners and veteran musicians to join a traditional “jam circle” and play along with others – learning old time traditional tunes or sharing them with others.

The Marianna Black Library Summer Learning Program themed weeks continue with Adventures with Animals…In the Jungle, for the week of July 17th -22nd.

School age kids camps are Tuesdays from 11:00am-12:00pm and Tuesday evenings from 5:00-6:30 pm with entertaining skills building activities, arts and crafts, games, and more. Swain Soil and Water will provide a special program, “Who’s that Animal,” on Wednesday, July 19th, from 11:00am-12:00pm, for kids to learn how to identify local wildlife!

The Marianna Black Library in Bryson City, in partnership with the Japan Outreach Initiative Coordinator at WCU, will host an event on Somegami (Japanese Washi Paper Dyeing), Monday, July 10 from 3:30 to 4:30 PM in the Auditorium.

Sylva-- The Jackson County Public Library is hosting a Leap Into Science: Light and Shadow Family Night on Thursday, July 6 at 5 PM in the Community Room. Work together as a family to investigate the characteristics of light and the ways it interacts with some objects. This program is free and open to the public.

As part of a Summer Music Series, the Marianna Black Library presents an evening of southern roots music from Frank Lee on Thursday, July 13th, at 7:00 PM.

Marianna Black Library Summer Learning Program themed day camps continue with Pre-K Storytime Adventures in Nature on July 6th at 11:00am-12:00 pm.

Adventures with Superheroes week kicks off on July 11th at 11:00am-12:00pm for School Age kids. This will be followed by Family Craft Night on Tuesday July 11th from 5:00-6:30 pm, with paracord friendship bracelets, painting kindness rocks, and kindness message bookmarks.
