Computers are everywhere, but fewer schools teach computer science than 10 years ago. Girls and minorities are severely underrepresented. Good news is, we’re on our way to change this. Macon County Public Library will host "The Hour of Code" on May 26th at 2pm in the Computer Lab for grades 4 and up.

The Jackson County Public Library in Sylva will offer a free Digital Passwords class on Wednesday, May 18th, at 5:45 PM. The 90-minute class will be taught by JCPL staffer Laura Chapman and Macon County Library staffer Cassie Chambliss.

Many people feel overwhelmed by the number of passwords they have to keep up with. It's hard to invent and remember these long strings of characters, but passwords that are easy to remember are often easy for hackers to crack.
