Sylva-- On Thursday, July 13 at 1:30 PM, the Jackson County Public Library is hosting a free mental health seminar facilitated by Vaya Health. This program is in the Conference Room and is free of charge but registration is required.
Sylva-- On Wednesdays, at 3 PM, the Jackson County Public Library will be hosting Randi Neff for a NASA STEM program. NASA's Artemis program will establish a base on the Moon in the future, and these activities will help children learn more about what that involves, from making the trip there to developing ways for people to live on the Moon.
Sylva-- The Jackson County Public Library is hosting a Communi-Tea Party Family Night on Thursday, July 13 at 5 PM in the Storytime Room. This tea party is all about honoring our community. Join us for tea, snacks, and time to craft! This program is free and open to the public.

As part of a Summer Music Series, the Marianna Black Library presents an evening of music by Dolly Parton, performed by Kelli Dodd, on Thursday, June 29th, at 7:00 PM. You won’t want to miss this unique tribute to a true American music icon. Kelli takes you on a journey through Dolly's most influential songs with poignant stories of her life. We will be having our last adult summer art workshops on Thursday, June 29th. In this workshop we will be following Bob Ross, via big screen, to render one of his amazing landscape paintings. So, grab a friend and join us in the meeting room Thursday, June 29 at 2:30 for the last free program. All supplies will be provided to create your painting. Space is limited so registration is required for ages 16 and up.
Sylva-- On Saturday, June 24th at 3 PM, the Jackson County Public Library is hosting the Executive Director of the Balsam Mountain Trust, Dr. Michael Wall. North Carolina is home to over 500 species of bees and only one of those is the European Honeybee. Learn about the other 98.2% of the bees, the flowers they pollinate, and how you can be bee-friendly to all brands of bees (and other pollinators).
Sylva-- On Wednesday, June 28th at 6 PM, the Jackson County Public Library is hosting a screening of the special screening of the documentary, Stonewall Uprising. In the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. Such raids were not unusual in the late 1960s, an era when homosexual sex was illegal in every state but Illinois.
Sylva-- The Jackson County Public Library is hosting Sylva's own Professor Whizzpop on Friday, June 23 at 10:30 AM. This program is limited to 150 people. Tickets for limited events will be distributed when the library opens the morning of the event.) This program is part of the Summer Learning Program.
Sylva-- The Jackson County Public Library is partnering with Four Seasons and Pisgah Legal for a documentary and panel on end of life decisions. This workshop will meet on Tuesday, June 20 at 5:30 PM in the Community Room. All are welcome and the event is free of charge.
