Sylva-- On Saturday, August 26 at 3 PM, the Jackson County Public Library is hosting WCU School of Music faculty member Dr. Leonidas Lagrimas (piano) with "Musical Storytellers," a recital featuring solo and duet piano masterworks by Bach, Scarlatti, Mozart, Brahms, and more. Joining him on the program are three guest classical pianists from Western North Carolina. This program explores music's power to connect with audiences through the art of storytelling.

The public is invited to stop by the Marianna Black Library to meet and visit with Jim Casada and Tipper Pressley, authors of Celebrating Southern Appalachian Food, anytime between 4 - 7pm on Tuesday, August 22nd.

The Marianna Black Library, in Bryson City, hosts an evening of acoustic country blues presented by Heidi Holton on Thursday, August 24th, at 7:00 PM.     

Sylva-- On Tuesday, August 22 from 11:30 AM to 1 PM, the Jackson County Public Library and Uncomplicated Kitchen are hosting an appreciation lunch for the public in the Atrium.

"The Jackson County Public Library and Uncomplicated Kitchen are so grateful to our community for supporting and participating in our programming so we’re treating you to a little lunch! Join us for some vegetarian sliders with all the fixins’, featuring tangy and crunchy pickled lettuce!"

Sylva-- The Jackson County Public Library is hosting a Waffles and Tea Family Night on Thursday, August 24 at 5:30 PM in the Storytime Room.

"We love you a waffle lot!
Come have a tea party with us to celebrate National Waffle Day."

This program is free and open to the public.

The Marianna Black Library continues its Summer Music Series with the bluegrass guitar picking of Bryson City’s own Granny’s Mason Jar on Thursday, August 10th, at 7:00 PM.    

Fontana Regional Library has a 2006 Ford Freestyle for sale.  It currently needs the oil changed and a new muffler; service has been done regularly. The vehicle drives great and runs great.  It has three row seating, air conditioning works great, all wheel drive, 3.0 V6, very clean.

Grief is often lonely, and groups provide a safe space in a world that doesn't always understand. For those who are ready to share and hear from others at different points in the journey, a support group provides connection for the journey forward.

A staff facilitator aids the group in dialogue and experiences to promote healing. Your presence is important to the group, so we look forward to talking with you about the commitment you make to yourself and others by registering for a support group.

SUMMER MUSIC CONTINUES AT THE MARIANNA BLACK LIBRARY WITH STORY-TELLING AND TRADITIONAL MUSIC BY LEE KNIGHT

As part of a summer series of music, the Marianna Black Library is proud to present the traditional music and storytelling of folklorist Lee Knight on Thursday, July 27th, at 7:00 PM. 

Though the summer is winding down, readers of all ages are still learning this summer as the Marianna Black Library continues this year’s Summer Learning Program.  The 2023 Summer Learning Program is open and free to kids of all ages 0 – 17 with programs, prizes, story times and more.
