Jackson County Public Library Children's Area gives kids their own space in the library, filled with books,  DVDs, a train table, puppet theater, puzzles, and many other things. There is one study room that can be reserved or used when available, as well as computers just for kids and AWES with pre-programmed games on them. We have a special Storytime Room where we hold our Storytimes and many of our programs. Youth Services staff are always on hand to lend assistance.

Benefits of Gardening with Native Plants

Benefits of Gardening with Native Plants

Jackson County Public Library

Join us at the Jackson County Public Library on Tuesday, March 10th for a discussion on the benefits of gardening with native plants.  During this talk from 5:30pm-6:30pm in the Community Room of the Jackson County Public Library, Outreach Director Skye will explore the beauty, joy, and diversity that native plants bring to your landscape. Whether you have a whole lawn you want to transform into a wildflower meadow or a simple windowsill basket, you can enjoy native plants and the wildlife that rely on them, including butterflies and hummingbirds. Attendees will learn why native plants are important and the benefits they provide to humans, wildlife, and the environment, plus a few recommended species to try in both gardens and containers. The program will end with a brief overview of our WNC Wildseed Library program, Mainspring’s volunteer-supported native seed library that provides free native seed packets within the Jackson County Public Library and Macon County Public Library.
This program is free and open to the public. For more information please call the library at 828-586-2016. The Jackson County Public Library is a member of the Fontana Regional Library.
